The secret to a quick, homemade gluten-free pizza.

ree

For my fellow gluten-free pizza lovers out there, you know that a good, quick, and cheap slice is one of the food treasures that eludes the gluten-free eater. Grabbing a $1 cheese slice for a quick lunch, dinner, or let’s face it, breakfast is a convenience that the gluten-free do not have.

When there is time, alternatives to the traditional flour crust pizza are good. Alternatives that include gourmet restaurant style gluten-free pie, a frozen gluten-free pizza, or a cauliflower crust pizza can be satisfying replacements for even the pickiest pizza gastronome.

However, when 30 minutes to an hour isn’t available to order, or make a pizza, this quick, cheap, and delicious dollar slice replacement has satisfied my pizza cravings countless times.

The secret to quick gluten-free pizza? Gluten-free wraps. Yes, a gluten-free wrap has given the frozen pizza crust a run for its money.

Budget conscious gluten-free eaters will be happy to learn that a $4.00 package of gluten-free wraps can make eight gluten-free pizzas. Eight quick, easy, and delicious alternatives to a traditional flour crust pizza. This is how I turned a store bought gluten-free wrap into a delicious thin crust personal size pie.

Instructions:

  • Heat a skillet on medium heat. Adding a little oil to the pan can make the crust a little more savory, but I usually toast mine dry. Toss on a store bought, or a homemade gluten-free wrap onto the skillet.

  • Toast both sides half-way. Avoid toasting the wrap all the way as the wrap will burn before the cheese is melted. When one side is toasted, add a tomato, pesto, or a cream sauce.

  • When the sauce is heated, add any veggies, meat, or any other toppings.

  • Cover the pie with pizza cheese.

  • Cover the pan until the cheese is melted.

  • To make the crust extra crispy, turn the heat on high for a couple of minutes after the cheese is melted.

  • Top with a soft fried egg for extra protein and to add a little creaminess.

Bon appetit!
